Welcome to my page. My name is Sharon Robson and I am 46 years old. I am a mother of two teenage children and work full time.
On the 15th of September 2010 we received devastating news from my mothers Doctor that you never want to hear. Mum (Hazel) has cancer and she has one month to live without treatment (or maybe three with). Mum never got to start her treatment as the cancer was causing a blockage of the main artery from the heart that feeds the brain and she passed away a precious 9 days later.
In February 2012 my Mother in law passed away from kidney cancer after a 19 month battle. During her battle, while having surgery, Wendy had a major artery bleed which caused her to have a heart attack to which the medical team revived her. Due to this issue, the plumbing associated with the bad kidney was left in her body and from there the cancer spread.
Now these are just two of my recent personal experiences for family members passing from cancer. It is a terrible disease and is not discriminative on who it attacks.
So I am doing my part to change that...
Early 2011, I came across a flyer for the Ride to Conquer Cancer. I took it home and shared the info with my husband David. With his encouragement I signed up for my first major ride event. Riding 200+k's over two days and raising $2500. At the time I thought it was impossible but when you have the passion and support from family and friends, really, nothing is impossible.
In 2012, I joined the ride again. This time I formed a team and got a group of people who had the same passion as me, to rid the world of cancer. As a team we raised a whooping $42900
So we come to 2013 and how could I not sign again! Not only did I sign up and pledge to personally raise $15000 for Brisbane but I have signed up to do all 6 rides in 2103.
So this year I have joined forces with a great bunch of people in team Vision Crusaders to make a huge impact towards our fight against cancer.
